Another Supercharged Performante - and MORE !!!
At what point do you decide to start modifying what some
people would consider to already be one of the most perfect
daily driveable supercars on the market today, and how far do
you take it?
For this owner, he took it all the way!
One of the first mods people like to start with is wheels. In this
particular project, the Brixton Forged PF5 Untrasports became the
focal point in a gorgeous satin "Olympic Bronze" finish.
From there we were asked to color match the VF8XX Supercharger
System which was no easy task. Fortunate for us, our painter is one
of the best in the business and we think he did a tremendous job!
The color not only matches the primary hue of the wheels, but keeps
with the similar theme of what makes the Performante's engine bay
unique in the first place.
And while the aesthetics were important for the overall look of the project
the feels come in the way of adding forced induction to the high-revving
5.2L V10 motor which boosted to over 840 daily driveable horsepower on
traditional pump fuel, and the 900 horsepower mark on race fuel.
Performance results have been bench marked by MotorTrend Magazine,
notably one of the most discerning and well respected publications in the
automotive world.
0-60 MPH in a blistering 2.2 seconds
1/4 mile in 9.9 seconds @ 140+ MPH
And of course at first glance you can't miss the plethora of forged carbon
fiber accents from 1016 Industries 'Renato' aero program.
The most aggressive touch is seen at the hood, while subtlety was definitely
exercised in the design process for the full 360 degree appearance. A keen
eye will notice the appearance of side skirts, additions to the front lip and
rear diffuser, and the excellently place side vents at the rear 1/4 windows.
By our account this is likely going to be noted as one of the most heavily
modified heavily Huracan Performante's to date. One of the best aspects
of this project is that while it's been modified to the owners personal taste,
everything that makes the Performante special in the first place has been
preserved without any major distractions.
And of course we'd love to hear your thoughts!
Would you modify your brand new supercar to this extent?
How far is too far?
Are you in a position to take full advantage of the extra HP?
And if so, when and where would you use it?

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is no slouch out of the box; it has a 630 HP V10 mounted in the middle, active aerodynamics, and all-wheel-drive. It is the fastest Lamborghini ever made, around any road course in the world. But VF Engineering takes cars with more chassis than engine, and gives them the power they need. So they supercharged it. The result is 870 HP and 630 lb/ft of torque at the crank.

We couldn't have said so better ourselves!
Thank you!
Since day one of development into our supercharger system
for the 5.2L V10, our goal has been to bring the performance
of the engine to just beyond the level of the chassis in an
effort to dramatically improve the driving experience and
overall performance of the vehicle, but not detract from
the incredible balance that these Audi and Lamborghini
models have from the factory.
The Performante was absolutely next level in terms of road
handling through the dramatically improved combination of
suspension and aero which created tremendous mechanical
grip. While it proved it's ability to break road course records
against nearly every other production car in the world*, as
a road car the only complaint you ever hear is that it seems
to feel a bit under-powered out of the box.
While this may just be based on the fact that the car is soo
compliant and easy to drive, making it less visceral than
previous Lamborghini models, it was something that was
noted by journalists and owners alike.
With an additional 200-250 horsepower, that is no longer a
concern by any stretch of the imagination!
*Only bested by the more recent Porsche GT2 RS and now the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

If you're a 20 year old kid and drag racing and/or showing off is your thing, why not?
If you're a serious sportscar lover and driver...hideous. Just hideous.
Why would someone "ruin" the engine and the design?!

I'm 57 and don't drag race and not a show off and have supercharged both my R8's and now Huracan, turns a good car into a great car.

When executed properly (and obviously we're biased here) the supercharger
does nothing to district from, or negate, what makes the Audi built 5.2L V10
engine brilliant in the first place.
It's not for everyone, and the Performante especially is a spectacular car right
out of the box. That being said, there is always room for improvement, and
the original design of our system (which we developed from scratch nearly
10 years ago) was based on providing a level of power which helped to
better match the capabilities of the chassis.
You retain the high revving linear power delivery, the rich V10 sound, and the
overall balance between speed and control. A short conversation with any of
our existing supercharger customers will tell you (in their own words) that
it's simply "more of a good thing".

I know that the VF Engineering supercharger has a good reputation in the US, I even think that German tuner MTM and others have brought the supercharger over to Germany (where I live) and made it street legal (cost is around 50k EUR though...quite steep). So far, so good. No doubt, the VF supercharger for the R8/Huracan seems to be a high quality product since I never actually heard of someone having serious issues with it. The issues with tuned R8 and Huracans usually come from those Bi-Turbo kits. I know.
What I wonder however is: Where is the benefit? In Germany, where I can do 200 mph each and every day legally on public roads, I might get it. In the US? Not so much.
From various reviews with the European supercharger kit from VF (sold through MTM and others), I can tell that the performance advantage/gain is mainly at speeds over 125 mph.
So why risk your factory warranty (not only for the engine but the drivetrain/AWD/etc. as well)? Also, resale value would certainly take a hit as well.
At least it doesn't costs as much in the US as it costs in Germany.

That part is very wrong and would be more for a turbo car. I have put VF Superchargers on both my R8's and now Huracan. The thing I like best about it is the big increase in torque you get at the bottom of the RPM band, Car flies off the line. I can have a lot of fun with my car without going way over limit unlike the 720S's I have test drove. Those cars seems boring unless you are really on it while my Supercharged Huracan with Fabspeed exhaust has so much excitement to it through whole range
