Performante vs 720S vs 488
Wondering what do you guys really think, I do understand its a Lambo forum and all but I'm just not sure if Performante is really worth extra 100k (spec'd) on top of a lightly used Huracan?! Rear looks sick but the rest is just like regular Huracan. I also hate the fact that it is not limited! heard rumors that there is another Huracan version is due, SL or something...
I'm seriously considering Mclaren 720S, I think the car looks phenomenal and I genuinely believe depreciation will not be as bad as with 650S. If you look at 570S they are holding on real well. Also considering 488 well spec'd, red and black roof, racing seats, lots of carbon - I think those 488's look hot!
I had a Huracan for 2 years so I'm familiar with the car. I sold it recently cause I got Aventador SV Roadster.
What do you guys think? Anyone else has the same dilemma?

I would get a 488 speciale if you are already "in" with Ferrari. It will be released soon and will most likely appreciate and looks great. I am not "in" with Ferrari so I'm sure that my wait would be years, something I am not willing to do at the moment.
The McLaren headlights are just ugly IMHO and there isn't a dealer within 5 hours of me. Depreciation and reliability also have me worried about a new McLaren model, new McLaren's have always had trouble. The 720 will be a completely different bird than the 570, I would expect some issues. The 570 had its fair share of issues.
Brings me to the lambo, I have a HP on order. The regular huracan depreciation is ridiculous, it's like a McLaren. Which is why there is $100k difference between your used one and a new HP. Between a new regular huracan and a new HP there is only about $20-$30k difference depending on what paint color you choose. There is rumor that this will be the last model the V10 NA is used for. Bi-turbo V8 will most likely make it into the next huracan model which will be the Huracan refresh. So, yes I do think that the new HP will still depreciate but hopefully not anywhere near the rate the regular huracan did. And I am sure that Lambo will come out with another performance huracan model but we are talking years away at this point. Next huracan will be a refresh and then some other special model of the huracan refresh and THEN you will have another variation of a performance model huracan. Years away before that happens.
If you want a NA engine obviously there is only one way to go. The 488 speciale though will probably be a killer car. Probably at least $50k-$75k more expensive though depending on options.

These threads are always matter of opinion....so here are mine:
720 - If you want the most technically advanced car with more "electric" feel...sound lacking, worst depreciation, horrible front aesthetics of the "dead eye socket" headlights
488 - if regular production, it's the latest, greatest F machine, wait in line...Ferrari game. Sound lacking vs 458. Aesthetics matter of opinion.
Performante - probably last of the NA V10 line, amazing sound, ALA aero, aggressive aesthetics (though not as much as SV Roadster)

The 720 is hideous, IMHO. McLaren is cannibalizing each car they make about 6 months later with something newer. Great for the industry, but horrible for owners. I realize Ferrari and Lambo are doing the same thing but at least at a much slower pace.

Couldn't agree more. Mac is driving the depreciation themselves with the short shelf life of their cars and massive discounts on new cars. If you discount new cars so heavily, it only further beats up the secondary market and trade in values. I would be hesitant to touch a new Mac no differently than buying a new Aston Martin.

I'm biased since I own a McL and an H. I was turned off from Ferrari because of the attitudes I dealt with at the dealership. Plus the 2 year wait for a new 488, the games, buy an FF, a California, etc... and maybe we'll sell you a 488. Get lost.
I like McLaren's but I love my 12C. I haven't had the issues other owners have, and I'm not looking to sell or upgrade. It was the first car McLaren made after the legendary F1 so for me, it's a keeper. The 720 doesn't have a look I like. The round rump of the 570 and even the 720 turns me off, plus the dead eyes. The interior is sleek but I expected a bigger upgrade - they kept it too minimalist. Overall, I actually like my 12C better. Plus you can no longer open the engine bay - who does that to a supercar?! Heck I wish my car flipped open like a Huayra, and McLaren goes the other way and gives you "move along, nothing to see here." Too British.
Which brings me to Lambo. I've ordered my Performante and I'm selling my H. I like driving the McLaren, but I love driving the Huracan. Something about the noise, the aggression, the vibe I get behind the wheel. I can only imagine what the HP will be like, but the smile I have driving my current H is the reason I'm going for the upgrade.
In the end, I may eventually get a cherry red Ferrari. I'm partial to the idea of my Blue McLaren, White Lambo, and a Red Ferrari in my driveway - living the American dream with Euro supercars!

pretty sure next model will be closer than we think ..cars manufacturers are just trying to fight to be the 1st to launch something new..for me now, the perf..never really thought of the 720s, or even a 488 though..so different feelings to what lamborghini gives.. but lately after my perf order, i've been thinking of a 599 gtb or 430.
