    My roommate has an R8

So just found a new room in a house on Craigslist and the owner of the house has an Audi R8 V8. He said he bought it used and said the performance of V8 isn't like a Lamborghini. I only driven the Huracan & Gallardo so would driving a V8 Audi R8 be like a disappointment? He seems like a guy who knows what his car is capable of and not just buying this R8 to look cool.

But he said driving in the R8 he gets that celebrity treatment of an exotic owner. Like if he passes by a high school, kids will be going crazy. Or he will see people whip out their phones. Get random girls at Starbucks wanting to talk to him just for the car. And it's just a V8, but seems normal people can't tell the difference since it still a stunning looking car for the price he paid for it. But true car guys will know the Audi R8 w/ a V8 isn't the fastest thing for the money and he said modded GTRs will beat his Audi R8. Basically he said GTR's will impress guys and Audi R8s will get girls. The only celebrity treatment I got was driving the Huracan by Staple Center during a game in heavy traffic. People at the crosswalks were turning their heads looking at the car & had random guys in SUVs heckling for a race, even though we were stuck in traffic.

He invited me to Cars & Coffee and also a Lamborghini meet at the Lambo dealer at Costa Mesa CA. Wondering if anybody was there this weekend, I took my orange M3. I met a few Lambo owners, alot of them are business owners who aren't afraid to talk loud and not the kind of person a PC person would wanna be around. They're not bad people, they will acknowledge me when my roommate introduced me, but those guys are on another level. I want to work on being able to be able to have a conversation with those rough business owner type people. Because the way they act is likely how they got what they wanted, but it takes more effort to hang around those Lambo guys than a frat guy who just got outta college.

He's social able and he let me sit inside his R8 the first time we met, so felt like I earned his trust before moving in. Since I driven an Lamborghini Huracan for a rental, I got that envy excitement outta my system so that way I'm not acting all fake and shallow if I approach someone with an exotic.

Not sure what the question is but the R8 any day over a gtr.

I owned 2 in the past and you will love it, be prepared for tons of attention.

Ya I heard it's exhaust, it's a monster. Sounds nice. Eventually will have to get a ride in it once we find time to do so. But if he does offer to let me drive it, any tips, is it like the Huracan? He said it will be slower if I driven the Huracan.

Well my side question is how to socialize w/ exotic car owners? I met a few Lamborghini guys through the roommate, not trying to say they're arrogant, but some are intimidating and more challenging to speak to. Like one Lambo guy was talking about how his Craigslist Ad got pulled for "requiring perfect english for phone answering. But ya he went on a rant about people need to speak perfect english when answering the phones, but he wasn't racist, but a PC person could be offended by what he said. My roommate is more mellow but owns his own business and bought that R8 used.

I owned a 2010 r8 v10 up until last month. It was an amazing car, plenty of power and great daily driver. The only thing I didn't like was the rtronic gearbox. It was single clutch so it was very jerky in slow traffic. Also the interior is really dated now.

The v8 isn't that fast compared to what's out now, the v10 however is plenty fast but neither drive or feel like the huracan.

Well he just gave me a ride yesterday and well I'm not sure if it's fast, but it's throws you around when it shifts gears (from single clutch) or goes around a turn. It's not as smooth as the Huracan I drove, but still feels like a super car. Or at least it feels like you're on a roller coaster. I feel exotics are the only cars that can feel like being on a roller coaster. Huracan felt like a smoother car, but it still feels fast. The roommate says the V8 Audi R8s aren't that fast, and what I'm feeling is the single clutch and the super loud exhaust. I think he modded his exhaust, it's ridiculously loud like a plane that I think I need noise cancelling headphones to go on a road trip with that thing.

He will let me drive it eventually, but ya if he does what is the car capable of compared to an M3 or Huracan?
